We report on real categories of change and publish figures only once they have been checked. Where a number is not yet verified, you will see a note rather than an estimate.

What we measure, and why.

These are the areas where support most often makes a visible difference. What follows is what we can account for today, reported as the underlying records are confirmed.

Schooling

Three children are now attending English-medium private school, with fees, meals, uniforms, supplies and transport supported.

Another child receives regular one-to-one tutoring to build her foundational skills and prepare her to begin school.

Housing

The family has moved from one unsafe mud room into a secure two-bedroom home with a kitchen, bathroom and living space.

Soul Ties has also provided essential furnishings, including new beds, giving the children a clean, stable place to call home.

Learning progress

All three children are thriving at school.

One achieved As and Bs, ranking 13th out of 43.
Another achieved an incredible 7 As and 1 B, ranking 14th out of 38.
Our youngest achieved all As and Bs, ranking 16th out of 24 in her class.

All three are doing better than we had dared to expect when this work began, and each of them is now settled and confident at school.

Practical family support

Support so far has included regular food and essential supplies, clothing and shoes, medical needs and other everyday family expenses.

A bulk food delivery is also organised for the school holidays, ensuring the children continue to have nutritious meals when school meals are unavailable.

Education progress

Progress looks like consistency.

The clearest sign that support is working is an ordinary one: a child in school this term, and the next, with work completed and marked.

We track attendance and school reports with families' agreement, and note where extra tuition or materials were added. Where progress stalls, we record that too — it tells us more about what to change than a success story does.

Education support

From limited opportunity to a future full of possibility

When Soul Ties first became involved with the family, Issa and Rahim were attending a government school where resources were limited and meals were not provided. Their mother wanted her children to have every opportunity to learn, but the cost of a stronger education was beyond what the family could manage.

With support, both boys have now moved to an English-medium school close to their new home. Their school fees, meals and educational needs are supported, giving them greater stability and the opportunity to concentrate on learning.

Both boys are thriving and have big ambitions for their futures. Issa dreams of becoming a doctor, while Rahim has confidently set his sights on becoming President of Tanzania.

Their younger sister Nurath has also begun her own educational journey, meaning three children in the family are now being supported to learn, grow and build towards their futures.

Education doesn't just change a school day. It can change the direction of a child's life.

Family and housing support

From one room to a safe family home

When we first met the family, seven people were living together in a single mud-built room with just two single beds. There was no bathroom or kitchen, cooking was done outside using charcoal, and the dusty surroundings contributed to difficult living conditions for the children.

In 2026, support from Soul Ties helped the family move into a secure two-bedroom home in a safer community, with their own bathroom, kitchen and a large living space.

Practical support has helped turn the property into a home, including beds and mattresses, a bunk bed for the children and a gas stove so meals can be prepared safely indoors.

The difference is about much more than possessions. The children now have somewhere safer to sleep, wash, eat, study and play, while their mother has a more suitable environment in which to raise her family.

A safe home creates the foundation from which everything else can grow.
