Four areas of practical support
Each area answers a specific barrier families have described to us. We are careful about what we promise, and clear about what we can provide.
Area one
Education
School costs rarely stop at fees. Uniforms, books, exam charges and travel arrive together, and a household stretched thin can find a term's education slipping out of reach.
What Soul Ties can provide
- Contributions towards school fees and related costs
- Exercise books, pens, uniforms and other learning materials
- Additional tuition where a subject has become a barrier
- Practical help with access to and continuity of schooling
Intended outcome
Children are able to stay in school consistently, with the materials and support they need to take part fully.
Area two
Family & practical support
When daily essentials are uncertain, longer-term plans become impossible. Decisions narrow to what must be paid for this week.
What Soul Ties can provide
- Food and household essentials at times of particular pressure
- Bedding, cooking equipment and other basic household items
- Practical assistance agreed directly with each family
Intended outcome
Households have a steadier base from which to plan, and children are less likely to have their education interrupted.
Area three
Safe & stable living
Housing that leaks, lacks space or is insecure affects sleep, health and the simple ability to sit down and do homework.
What Soul Ties can provide
- Support towards suitable, secure accommodation
- Repairs and improvements to existing homes, such as roofing or flooring
- Help with the practicalities of a move where it is the right step
Intended outcome
Families have somewhere stable to live, and children have space and quiet in which to rest and learn.
Area four
Skills & future opportunities
Finishing school is not the end of the journey. Young people need routes into training, work and independent adult life.
What Soul Ties can provide
- Educational and vocational training opportunities
- Life-skills support as young people approach adulthood
- Encouragement and follow-up as plans take shape
Intended outcome
Young people have more options open to them, and the confidence and preparation to pursue them.
How support is decided
Agreed with families, reviewed as things change.
Support is discussed directly with each family, matched to what we can realistically fund, and revisited as circumstances shift. We do not guarantee outcomes, and we say so when something is beyond our means.
