Our commitment

Soul Ties Arusha is committed to protecting the welfare of every child and young person connected with our work. We recognise that children have a right to be safe, to privacy, and to be represented with dignity.

How we work with children

• Contact with children takes place in the presence of family or trusted local adults.
• We do not offer or facilitate private contact between supporters and children.
• Anyone acting on behalf of Soul Ties Arusha is expected to follow our code of conduct and to complete the checks required of their role.
• Concerns are taken seriously, recorded, and escalated to the trustee responsible for safeguarding.

Photographs and stories

• Photographs and stories are published only with the consent of the child and family.
• We use first names or approved pseudonyms, never full names.
• We do not publish home addresses, precise locations, daily routines, sensitive medical information or other unnecessary details that could place a child at risk. School or educational information may be shared where appropriate consent has been obtained and we consider it safe to do so.
• Consent can be withdrawn at any time. On request, we will remove a photograph or story from this website promptly.

Raising a concern

If you have a concern about the safety or wellbeing of a child connected with our work, please contact us and mark your message as urgent. If a child is in immediate danger, contact the local emergency services first.

A named safeguarding lead and reporting procedure are being put in place by the trustees as part of our charity registration, and details will be published here once confirmed.

Review

This statement will be reviewed by the trustees at least annually, and updated whenever our practice or legal obligations change.
